Beginning with an overview of basic linguistics, the course will move on to using the Russian alphabet and Russian grammar as a Rosetta stone and ‘Rosetta pebbles’ to learn how the language works. The material for decoding will initially consist of aphorisms, which will throw some light on Russian thought processes. Conversation will develop as pronunciation practice proceeds.
