Description:
Anthropology is the study of human variability across space and through time. The discipline is divided into four sub-fields: cultural anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, and linguistics. This course is designed to provide a general introduction to the four fields of anthropology (focusing mostly on cultural anthropology), or a reintroduction for those who may have taken anthropology in the past, but would like to catch up on what's new in the discipline. In addition to the primary text, we will read some journal articles and book chapters to supplement the basic concepts and also to reflect the interests of class participants.
