Description:
Each week of this 6 week course on basic geology will focus on one of the following topics: three basic rock types & rock cycle, the “roots” of MDI; unconsolidated sediments, the “frosting” on MDI; geologic time, relative & absolute age dating, MDI’s “deep” history; plate tectonics, the big picture & how it applies to MDI’s development; glaciation & sea level changes, the final shaping of MDI and course review, working out the sequence of geologic events at Schoodic Point.
