Caterina Anderson Caterina Anderson is a Bar Harbor native, and a current Ph.D candidate in cultural anthropology at Syracuse University. (B.A. in International Affairs, U of Maine, 2005) Caterina has been teaching anthropology to undergraduates for four years. Her area of specialization is cultural anthropology, but she is a “generalist” and interested in all areas of anthropology.
Tina Baker
Tina Baker, Professor of English, taught mythology for many years at the University of Maine and Bangor Theological Seminary. She holds a Masters in Teaching from Duke University and a Ph.D. in American Studies and Women's Studies from the Union Institute. A recipient of UM’s Presidential Outstanding Teacher Award and UMA's Trustee Professorship, Baker has authored two books and served three-terms in the Maine Legislature.
Duane Braun Duane Braun earned a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University and taught geosciences at the University of PA, 1975-2008. He taught geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology, & field geology; and was a mapper for the PA Geological Survey.
Ruth Braun Ruth Braun earned an M.S. from Johns Hopkins University, and taught junior and senior high school. She also taught Intro to Geology, Physical Geography, and Map Skills at Bloomsburg University.
Judith Burger-Gossart Judith Burger-Gossart earned a BA from Mount Holyoke College and has an American Studies major, University of Connecticut, MSW. She was a Social Worker for 25 years. She made a career shift in 1996 and became an antique dealer, returning to her original interest in American Studies. Last year she was curator of a hooked rug exhibit at the Mount Desert Island Historical Society.
Bill Clark
Bill Clark is a retired park ranger whose career was in natural history and American history park interpretation. He has been a geology instructor for Yavapai College, Arizona, and Acadia Senior College, and was an Elderhostel instructor on board a Camden windjammer. Summers, he is a narrator on the Sea Princess, a Northeast Harbor tour boat.
John Cooper John Cooper received his BA and an MA in music from Trenton State. He has been a Professor of Music and Composer in Residence at College of the Atlantic since 1989. Cooper is a published author and saxophonist, bassist, jazz vocalist and synthesist/pianist. He has an active performance schedule that has included major venues in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlantic City and Downeast Maine and has performed with many notable jazz artists.
Nancy Coulter Nancy Coulter has a wide range of teaching experience and is currently a member of the piano faculty at Concord Community Music School.
Don Cousins Don Cousins taught developmental and cognitive psychology for 32 years prior to retirement. He taught through the cognitive revolution in psychology, as well as the rise of modern neuroscience. Don taught his course in human memory four times for ASC. Studying about evolution is one of the many joys of his retirement years.
Nathaniel Fenton Nathaniel Fenton is a Graduate of St. Mark's School, Bowdoin College and Cornell Law School. He is a life-long student of history with a particular interest in Lincoln and American history.
Peggy Forster Peggy Forster was educated at Vassar College and Pratt Institute School of Library Science.
Robert Gallon
Robert Gallon is a Clinical Psychologist practicing in Bangor. He specializes in neuropsychological and forensic evaluations and does evaluations of committed patients for the courts. Long ago, he worked in a Drug Clinic and he taught at both Vassar College and Jefferson Medical School. He has taught courses in both Psychology and music for Senior College.
Robert Gossart Robert Gossart is a physician specializing in psychiatry, child psychiatry and pediatrics; he taught courses in ethics for Acadia Senior College in 2007 and 2008.
Moorhead Kennedy Moorhead (Mike) Kennedy is a retired Foreign Service Officer and former hostage in Iran. He served in Yemen, and Lebanon, among other posts. He lectures and has published work on Islamic Law, Cultural Conflict with the Middle East and Terrorism and is qualified in Arabic.
Hope Lewis Hope Lewis, driven by curiosity and a love of words, has found herself studying drama, teaching college, organizing task and non-profit groups, designing, storytelling, studying art, writing stories, reading voraciously and laughing a lot.

Larry Martin Larry Martin is Elliott Professor of English Emeritus, Hampden-Sydney College, Virginia where he taught Old and Middle English, including Chaucer. Larry has taught several literature classes for Acadia Senior College.
Lee Patterson Lee Patterson has been a music enthusiast since the 1950’s, as an avid listener, in performance as a trained tenor, and as a teacher and director of music and operetta. Though largely self-taught, he has studied music at Harvard and Johns Hopkins.
Michael Pilz Michael Pilz is a Midwesterner. He was educated at the University of Chicago, University of Iowa, and London University. He taught college English for 34 years before retiring to MDI where he has taught adjunct at the University of Maine. Some of the courses Michael has taught for the Senior College include one on Wallace Stevens, another on Whitman and Dickinson, two Shakespeare courses, and a course on Verdi and Shakespeare. He is very fond of basset hounds.
Steve Powell Steve Powell has a Liberal Arts Degree from Greensboro College with a major in History. Author of a mystery review column in the Greensboro Sunday Record 1984-1986 “Crime, Mystery, Detective,” Member of The Mystery Writers of America since 1985, owner/publisher of Wonderly Press (publisher of Judge Dee Plays His Lute: A Play and Selected Mystery Stories by local mystery writer Janwillem van de Wetering in 1997), antiquarian bookseller specializing in detective fiction since 1985, co-owner of Dunn and Powell Books, Inc. and Mystery Cove Bookshop in Hulls Cove.
Natalie Raimondi Natalie Raimondi, a Musicologist, is the executive director and co-founder of the Mt. Desert Festival of Chamber Music.
Charles Richardson Charles Richardson has an M.A. in video production and communication technology from Boston University.
Sydney Roberts Rockefeller Sydney Roberts Rockefeller has owned her own sailboat since the mid-1970’s, and has sailed and raced on many boats for over 60 years. Sydney has been involved in the Northeast Harbor Fleet, a small yacht club, on and off since 1961. She was Commodore in the early 1990’s.
Thomas Roderick Thomas Roderick holds an AB in philosophy, a BS in zoology from the University of Michigan, a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of California, Berkeley. He is Professor Emeritus, Jackson Lab. He taught genetics courses at the University of California and the University of Maine. Tom taught three previous courses for Acadia Senior College.
Charlotte Singleton Charlotte Singleton, Executive Director of Mount Desert Island Historical Society, has extensive experience teaching at various levels and in doing oral histories.
Joann Williams Joann Williams has a BS from the University of Florida and MSN from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. She is currently on the Board of The Pierre Monteux School for Musicians and Conductors and is indulging an interest in opera and classical music in her retirement.
