Description:
This course will study the life of Abraham Lincoln. Its goal is the same purportedly attained by Ida Tarbell in her study of Lincoln, namely, the rediscovery of her country and providing her with “an ideal by which to analyze the changes around her” in her time. May you say, as she said, this study has “aroused my flagging sense that I had a country, that its problems were my problems.” (Quotations from Judith Rice’s review of Ida Tarbell’s biography of Lincoln.)
Instructor: Nathaniel Fenton received degrees from Bowdoin College and Cornell University Law School. He has taught two previous courses on Lincoln for Acadia Senior College.
