The Making of a Poem
Instructor: Larry Martin
Location: Birch Bay Village
Course Meets: Mondays, 1-3:00
Course Size: 5-15 Students
Starts: January 19
Ends: February 23
Description: A good way to find out how a poem is made is to write one. This course is a workshop in which we’ll read and discuss familiar types of poems (sonnets for example) as well as unusual forms (villanelles, sestinas) plus classic themes (pastoral, elegies). Along the way we’ll write poems of various kinds to discover first-hand how to coordinate sound, sense and structure.
