Description:
How are masks traditionally used? Some masks are designed to hide the wearer or to project a specific image, to scare away ghouls or to summon the Spirits. Looking at the cultures of Northwestern America, Africa, Asia and Europe we will compare masks and the purposes they served within various cultures. We will also look at examples of masks featuring the five Chinese elements as well as masks portraying emotions and animals. And we will make our own masks. What sort of mask will you make?
