Description: Jeremiah’s long ministry took place during the most troubled time in the history of Israel, when Jerusalem was conquered and destroyed and the Hebrew people had to change their theology dramatically if they were to survive. Jeremiah’s creative theological work offers us a model for addressing our own new situations. The course will look at Jeremiah’s life and times, the tools a prophet uses to convey his message, and, in particular, Jeremiah’s unique arguments with God.
