Description: Participants will read and discuss parables attributed to Jesus in the New Testament Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, and in the Gospel of Thomas. The perspective and approach of these sources will be historical and literary. The primary focus will be the historical circumstances of the Jesus-of-history during the Roman period of occupation under the emperor Tiberius.
