Treasures from the Farnsworth at the Gilley: A Closer Look

In this talk Carl Little will focus on some of the artwork in the exhibition "Treasures from the Farnsworth" currently at the Wendell Gilley Museum. Featured artists include Fitz Henry Lane, Robert Henri, Fairfield Porter, Louise Nevelson, Edwin Gamble, Bernard Langlais, Emily Muir and Jamie Wyeth.
A native New Yorker, Carl Little has lived in Somesville since 1989. He holds degrees from Dartmouth, Middlebury and Columbia. He is the author of many art books, most recently, Paintings of Portland, co-authored with his brother David, and Philip Frey: Here and Now, co-authored with Daniel Kany. He is a regular contributor to Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors, Working Waterfront, Ornament and Hyperallergic. Little’s poetry has been featured in “Poems from Here” on Maine Public Radio as well as in 3 Nations Anthology: Native, Canadian & New England Writers (2017) and Local News: Poetry About Small Towns (2019). Little is communications manager at the Maine Community Foundation.
The hot buffet at Birch Bay Village in Hulls Cove, begins at 11:30 and costs $12; the lecture is from noon to 1:00.
