We continue to receive conflicting and confusing information on the ongoing corona virus pandemic. Dr. Edison Liu of The Jackson Laboratory will offer his experience and expertise to help us understand the scope of treatments and our options going forward. As we move into the new phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, the possibility of effective therapies and vaccines becomes real. In this talk, we will explore the biology of the SARS-CoV2 virus, and address questions such as what herd immunity truly is, the effectiveness of antivirals and anti-inflammatory agents, and whether a vaccine will be available and will it work?
Dr. Edison Liu is the president and CEO of The Jackson Laboratory. Prior to joining the lab, he was the founding executive director of the Genome Institute of Singapore, and was the president of the Human Genome Organization. Dr. Liu is an international expert in cancer biology, genomics, human genetics, molecular epidemiology, and translational medicine.
