May 14, 2021
12:00 Noon
Free virtual presentation via Zoom
Have you ever asked “How can I enhance my property to support pollinators & birds?” Or “Should I only plant native plants?” Val Libby will discuss such topics from the perspective of a lifelong gardener, professor and former employee of Surry Gardens. She will give suggestions on where naturalistic plantings can thrive, how to enhance existing natural areas, and the advantages and disadvantages of meadow gardens.
Val Libby retired as an Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture & Horticulture at Temple University. In 2004 she served as the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Landscape History in Portugal. She has authored numerous articles on landscape preservation and women’s history and is an Acadia Senior College instructor. Val is also the author of a forthcoming book called The Northwest Gardens of Lord & Schryver (OSU Press, 2021).
