Election Integrity: Verifying the Vote & Ensuring Public Confidence

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows will talk about the critical role election administrators play in ensuring public trust in government and confidence in our elections. She will highlight national trends attacking the integrity of our elections and speak about what we can do in Maine to protect democracy.  She will share details about post-election vote verification processes and national best practices for real post-election audits and reviews as well as what's on the horizon in Maine and nationally to protect our elections.

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows is Maine’s 50th Secretary of State, and first female Secretary of State. She previously served as a State Senator representing 11 cities and towns in southern Kennebec County. Outside of elected office, she served as Executive Director of the Maine Holocaust and Human Rights Center; ran a small consulting business; served as the Executive Director of the ACLU of Maine; and served in the AmeriCorp and Peace Corp among other roles. She grew up in Hancock and now resides in Manchester with her husband, Brandon, and their cats
