Dr. Philip Brooks will speak on: Transforming the Way We Treat Cancer: Genomics, Targeted Agents, and Immunotherapy. He will discuss the basics of cancer therapy as he would with his patients. He will also talk about his personal journey through oncology care, and the transforming therapies now in application.

Dr. Brooks completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Presbyterian-University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, and his Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

In 2008 he helped found the New Hope Cancer Center, in Beijing, China. He returned to Maine in 2011 working for CancerCare of Maine, which he helped to found in the early 1980s. He now lives on Mount Desert Island and oversees the Cancer Centers at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, and Mount Desert Island Hospital.
