Lunaform Garden Vessels: The Journey
Lunaform designs feature historic reproduction pieces, as well as new designs. Located in Sullivan Maine, founders Phid Lawless and Dan Farrenkopf continue to evolve their process of creating large scale, hand-turned, steel reinforced concrete garden pots. Lunaform is just beginning their 25th year. Dan will give a studio tour using slides, highlighting the last 18 months of their production, including process, installation photos, new designs and some of their historic reproduction and restoration work.
Dan is a native of Rockport Massachusetts who moved to Maine to attend College of the Atlantic. He studied painting, ceramics and architecture. After a brief internship with GITAG, an architectural studio in St. Petersburg Russia, he co-founded Lunaform. He's worked with a number of Hancock County non-profits including the Maine Community Fund's Hancock County Fund and the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium. Dan, his wife Misha Mytar and their two kids Rita and Field live on Mount Desert Island and Sullivan.
The hot buffet, at Birch Bay Village in Hulls Cove, begins at 11:30 and costs $11; the lecture is from noon to 1:00. Reservations are required for either and must be received by noon Thursday, February 22. Contact Acadia Senior College at 288-9500 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. This event is open to the public.
